UCI Cyber Victims Defense Clinic

The UCI Cyber Victims Defense Clinic provides free technical and legal assistance to victims of
cybercrime.

Have you been the victim of a cyberattack? Phishing, device compromise, cyberstalking,
ransomware? If so, the University of California, Irvine provides free technical and legal
assistance through our new Cybersecurity Victims Defense Clinic.

Please contact us at: CVD.Clinic@lawnet.uci.edu.

The clinic’s primary goals are to:

  • mitigate damage from cyberattacks;
  • train victims on how to avoid future compromise; and
  • help victims seek justice in the criminal and civil legal systems.

Generously supported by the law firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and the Orange County
cybersecurity firm Cylance, the UCI Cyber Victims Defense Clinic launched in August 2017. Led
by Gibson cybersecurity partner Joshua Jessen, the clinic provides pro bono legal and technical
assistance to victims of cyberattacks. Such attacks often target the elderly and other
underserved populations, as well as small businesses with limited resources. The clinic also is
helping to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity-savvy lawyers.
